I do think that writing advice has it's place but I think that it should always be taken with a "pinch of salt". lol- I always remember Ray Bradbury saying, "Plot; is no more than footprints left in the snow after your characters have run by on thier way to incredible destinations". and he was a pretty smart fellow. I personaly think that everyone has a writer living within them. It is how we started after all, "Did you see the size of that tiger? progressed onto "Hey, I put a pointy bit onto the end of my club, I call it a spear"
Then to the lay of Gilgamesh and so to, Sophocles, Homer etc (and thankfully a little more finese) but essentialy it is the same thing. We all tell stories, we talk of our experiences, we try to keep each other entertained on the long winter nights. It is true of course that some then cannot write as well as others, but they still have a story to tell. One of my few regrets in life is that I will not live long enough to read all those stories.
